FORMAT:

All participants will compete in a 36-hole, net stroke play championship.  The championship field will be divided evenly into three flights based on each competitor’s lowest Handicap Index from February 1 to the April 15 revision.

 

All competitors will play to their lowest Handicap Index from February 1 to the April 15 revision and will receive 100% of their Course Handicap (unless otherwise noted by the SCGA). In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or an alternate's position in any flight, the USGA method of matching scorecards will be used to break all ties starting with Holes 10 – 18. (See Section 5 of the Committee Procedures).    

 

Flight Breakdown (Players are flighted by lowest Handicap Index from February 1 to the April 15):

Arroyo Flight: 8.0 and below

Mission Flight: 8.1 – 12.9

Pacific Flight: 13.0 and above

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event. Players must check in with the Pro Shop if they wish to rent a golf cart and to redeem their driving range ticket. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings for Round 1 of Friday will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the championship. Starting times will range from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m.  Round 2 starting times will be based on 18-hole scores and will be available approximately one hour after the conclusion of Round 1.  On Saturday, Round 2 times will range from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m.

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Players may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense anytime by calling the Recreation Park 18 GC Pro Shop and the El Dorado Park GC Pro Shop. Practice rounds are available on a space available basis.

El Dorado Park (Friday)

Men in the Arroyo flight will play from the BLUE tee markers and yardage. CR: 70.8 / Slope 126 /Approx. 6,461 yards / Par: 72

Men in the Mission and Pacific flights will play from the WHITE tee markers and yardage. CR: 69.6 / Slope 123 /Approx. 6,189 yards / Par: 72

Women in all flights will play from the SILVER tee markers and yardage. CR: 72.2 / Slope: 125 / Approx. 5,625 yards / Par: 72

 

Recreation Park (Saturday)

Men in the Arroyo flight will play from the BLUE tee markers and yardage. CR: 70.0 / Slope 117 /Approx. 6,360 yards / Par: 72

Men in the Mission and Pacific flights will play from the WHITE tee markers and yardage. CR: 69.13 / Slope 114 /Approx. 6,125 yards / Par: 72

Women in all flights will play from the SILVER tee markers and yardage. CR: 73.8 / Slope: 126 / Approx. 5,900 yards / Par: 74

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The driving range will be open at 6:00 a.m. on both days of the championship.  Range balls will be provided compliments of the SCGA.   Please check in with the Pro Shop to redeem your ticket with a code for the machine.

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The SCGA will host lunch for all players on Friday after their round at El Dorado Park GC.

 

Players will be on their own for any other purchases during the championship. The snack bar and restaurant will be open at 6:00 a.m. at both courses for additional purchases for players, caddies and spectators.  Cash and major credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.   

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play;
  • Local Rules and Terms of the Competition can be found on the SCGA Hard Card and the Notice to Players addendum that will be distributed on site;

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Carts are optional at the player’s expense ($15 per player). There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates). Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk. Pull carts and push carts are allowed.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times. 

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here. If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the event, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $10 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
